MILWAUKEE -- Aurora Pharmacy executives say that the company may have found its niche, but they're hardly feeling confined.
After adding 15 units last year on top of the 13 it opened in 2000 the chain is up to 120 pharmacies. Sales in 2001 climbed 19% after soaring 68% the year before. And the upper limit of expansion is nowhere in sight.
"I haven't heard anyone say there is going to be any end to our growth," comments chief operating officer Greg Weber. He projects that the retailer will operate upwards of 150 pharmacies by the end of 2003.
The optimism at Aurora arises partly because the niche it occupies is multifaceted. While it operates only in Wisconsin, and primarily in the southeastern part of the state, it has pharmacies in hospitals, clinics and supermarkets as well as in formerly independent …
